Chapter 26 - THE UNBALANCED ACCOUNT

"Adrian... please!" Rossi choked out, his eyes bulging with sheer panic as he gasped for air against the brick wall. "It wasn't just me! The New York families... they offered ten million for control of the Boston docks! I was just taking the contract!"
Adrian didn't flinch. His grip around Rossi’s collar remained unshakeable, holding the six-foot man two inches off the concrete floor.
"I don't care about New York, Victor," Adrian said coldly. "And I don't care about their money. What you failed to understand is that the Moretti family doesn't operate under the old rules anymore."
The sound of footsteps echoed through the ruined doorway.
Elena walked into the warehouse, her heels clicking against the wet concrete floor. She stepped past the pinned bodyguards, stopping beside Adrian. She wore a dark wool coat over her forest-green dress, carrying a sleek black electronic tablet in her hand.
She looked at Rossi with neither hatred nor anger—only the cool, detached efficiency of a master strategist who had already written his fate.
"Every asset you owned in North America has been seized, Victor," Elena said, her voice clear and precise. "Your real estate holdings in Miami, your offshore accounts in Zurich, and the title deeds to your distribution centers in New Jersey were all pledged as collateral against the Maritime Maintenance shell corporation. When I filed the emergency fraud injunction two hours ago, the federal marshals froze everything."
Rossi stared at her in utter disbelief, his face draining of all color. "You... you wiped me out... in an afternoon?"
"You tried to take our family's life," Elena replied, stepping closer, her hazel eyes fierce and unyielding. "I simply took your legacy. You will spend the rest of your natural life in a maximum-security federal facility for attempted industrial sabotage and treason against corporate governance."
Dante stepped forward, snapping heavy steel handcuffs around Rossi’s wrists as Adrian released his collar, letting the broken man slide down the brick wall onto his knees.
Adrian turned to Elena, wrapping his arm securely around her waist, pulling her close against his side as the police sirens began to echo down the South Boston alleyway.

"Is it done?" Adrian asked softly, looking down into her face.
Elena looked up at him, her lips softening into a gentle, confident smile as she rested her hand against his chest. "It's completely done, Adrian. The last threat to our home is gone."
