Chapter 6 - THE VETERAN STANDS

High up in the wooden bleachers, the older veteran in the Marine Corps cap froze.

He had been watching the confrontation with passive interest, expecting the arrogant instructor to easily outmaneuver the working-class father. But the moment Damon executed that single, micro-adjusted slipping movement and wrist trap, the veteran’s posture changed dramatically.

The movement had not been kickboxing. It had not been karate, taekwondo, or traditional jujitsu.

It was an elite, lethal close-quarters combat technique—a specific, highly classified system of biomechanical deflection and immediate limb neutralization taught only to top-tier specialized military operators operating within unacknowledged dark units.

The veteran stood up from his seat in the bleachers so fast his knees hit the bench in front of him.

His weathered face turned pale under his dark blue cap. His hands reached out, gripping the metal railing of the bleachers until his knuckles turned white.

Below on the mat, Damon seamlessly transitioned from the wrist trap into a second, fluid movement. Without using brute force, he rotated his hips three inches, driving his palm into the side of Blake’s shoulder structure, hyper-extending Blake’s shoulder joint just enough to force the champion down onto his knees without breaking a single bone.

It was clean, silent, terrifyingly efficient, and utterly non-sportive.

The veteran’s mouth parted in disbelief. He leaned over the railing, staring down at Damon’s posture, his voice coming out as a strained, terrified whisper under his breath:

"Oh, God..."

The middle-aged parent sitting beside him on the bleachers looked up in complete confusion. "What is it, sir? What happened?"

The veteran didn't take his eyes off the mat. "I know that movement," he whispered, his voice trembling slightly. "I haven't seen that entry since thirty years ago in the desert. That man doesn't exist on any civilian roster."
