Chapter 10 - VIVIAN LOSES HER AUDIENCE
Vivian did not apologize.
Not initially.
She blamed Helen.
“She abandoned the children.”
Helen almost returned.
That frightened Sabrina more than anything.
One sentence nearly undid months of progress.
“What if Oliver thinks I left him?”
“He knows where you are.”
“What if Emma forgets me?”
“She won’t.”
“They need me.”
“Yes.”
“Then maybe I should—”
“No.”
Helen looked at her daughter.
Sabrina softened.
“You can love them without being their employee.”
That became the rule.
Helen saw Oliver and Emma regularly.
Scheduled.
Predictable.
Often in her own home.
Ryan brought them over.
Sometimes Melissa did after temporary custody arrangements were worked out.
Vivian was not invited.
Eventually, after Ryan and Melissa’s custody case stabilized, Vivian’s influence shrank.
No dramatic ban.
No judge declaring her evil.
