Chapter 15 - The Endless Horizon

Two years later.
The autumn sunset over Lake Washington turned the sky into a breathtaking canvas of brilliant gold, deep pink, and soft violet.
On the wide wooden porch of the Bellevue estate, a long family table was set with fresh flowers, white candles, and warm dishes of delicious food.
In the backyard, nearly two-year-old triplets—Julian, Clara, and Alexander—were happily running barefoot across the soft green lawn, chasing a friendly golden retriever, their loud, sweet laughter echoing across the water.
Near the porch steps sat a wooden rocking cradle, where our four-month-old daughter, little Evelyn, slept peacefully wrapped in a soft pink blanket.
I sat on the porch bench, wearing a comfortable floral dress, sipping a glass of fresh lemonade, watching my four healthy, beautiful children play in the twilight.
Behind me, two broad, warm hands rested gently on my shoulders.
Lucian leaned down, pressing a soft kiss against my cheek, his familiar scent of rain, cedar, and warm skin filling my senses with absolute peace.
"Are you happy, my love?" Lucian whispered into my ear, sliding down to sit beside me on the bench, wrapping his arm securely around my waist.
I leaned my head against his shoulder, looking out at the glittering lake, at our children playing on the lawn, and at the strong, devoted man who had built this sanctuary of love around my life.
Five years ago, I thought my life was over on a cold glass floor forty stories above Seattle. I thought I was disposable, weak, and alone, fighting for my babies in the back of a rain-soaked city bus.
I didn't know that the storm was simply clearing the path for the greatest man I would ever meet.

"I am happier than I ever thought possible, Lucian," I whispered, turning my face to look into his dark, loving eyes.
Lucian smiled—a warm, radiant smile that belonged entirely to me and our children—and pulled me close as the sun dipped gently beneath the horizon, bathing our family in an unbroken, eternal light.
