Chapter 11 - The Arrival of Miracles

Two weeks later, on a crisp, clear morning in early November, the winter sun broke over the snow-capped peaks of the Cascade Mountains.

Inside the state-of-the-art private delivery suite at Swedish Medical Center, the room was quiet, filled with soft classical music and the gentle, rhythmic hum of advanced monitoring equipment.

I sat propped up on the birthing bed, wearing a soft lavender gown, holding Lucian’s hand with every ounce of strength I possessed.

Beside the bed stood Dr. Evelyn Vance, flanked by three full pediatric surgical teams—nine nurses and specialists in total, one team dedicated to each baby.

"Alright, Ava," Dr. Vance smiled warmly, placing a reassuring hand on my knee. "Your cervix is fully dilated. The babies are positioned perfectly. It is time to meet your children."

I looked over at Lucian.

He was wearing blue surgical scrubs over his dark shirt, his hair pushed back, his dark eyes filled with an intensity of love and devotion that made my heart feel like it was bursting.

"Ready, my love?" Lucian whispered, leaning down to press a soft, lingering kiss against my sweaty forehead.

"Ready," I whispered back, taking a deep, strong breath.

"On the next contraction, Ava... push!" Dr. Vance commanded.

I closed my eyes, digging my heels into the footrests, bearing down with all the strength, courage, and love I had built over six months of survival. Lucian held my hand, his voice a steady, unwavering anchor in my ear.

"You are incredible, Ava... push, my sweet girl... push..."

At 8:14 AM, a loud, sharp, beautiful cry echoed through the surgical suite.

"Baby A is born!" Dr. Vance announced proudly. "A healthy, beautiful boy! Four pounds, eight ounces!"

Tears spilled over my eyes as the first pediatric team expertly wrapped our firstborn son in a warm blue blanket, holding him up so I could see his tiny, perfect face and dark hair.

"One minute later... push again, Ava!" Dr. Vance ordered.

At 8:16 AM, a second, sweeter cry joined the first.

"Baby B is born!" Dr. Vance cheered. "A healthy girl! Four pounds, six ounces!"

Our daughter, wrapped in a pink blanket, let out a furious, tiny squeak that made Lucian let out a soft, emotional laugh.

"One more, Ava!" Lucian urged, his tears dampening my hand as he squeezed my fingers. "One more, my brave girl!"

At 8:18 AM, with one final, triumphant surge of strength, the third cry shattered the quiet room—the loudest, most demanding cry of them all.

"Baby C is born!" Dr. Vance laughed, wiping a tear from her own eye. "Another strong boy! Four pounds, ten ounces! Ava... you did it! Three perfect, healthy triplets!"

The room erupted into warm, joyful applause from the medical team.

Within five minutes, after rapid health evaluations confirmed all three infants had robust, healthy lung functions, the nurses placed all three blanketed bundles directly onto my chest.

I looked down at them—two dark-haired boys and a dark-haired girl—their tiny, soft faces resting against my skin, their miniature hands curling instinctively into my fingers.

Lucian wrapped his massive arms around all four of us, leaning his forehead against mine, his tears falling freely onto the blankets.

"Thank you, Ava," Lucian choked out, his voice thick with raw, overwhelming reverence. "Thank you for bringing our family into the world."

I looked up into his handsome, emotional face, my heart completely full, unbroken, and healed forever.

"What are we naming them, Lucian?" I asked softly.

Lucian looked down at our firstborn son, then our daughter, then our youngest boy.

"Julian," Lucian whispered, touching the head of our first son in memory of my late father. "Clara," he touched our daughter. "And Alexander."

"Julian, Clara, and Alexander Blackwood," I smiled, holding my children close as the morning sun flooded the room with pure, radiant light.
