Chapter 8 - The Legacy of Guilt and Responsibility

The revelation hung in the air, transforming the luxury office into a courtroom of conscience. Alexander’s mind raced through the timeline. His younger brother had died in a tragic mountain accident twelve years ago, leaving Alexander as the sole heir to the Morgan empire. He had believed his brother had left no lineage behind. His ruthless uncle had systematically hidden the existence of the pregnant woman to ensure that Alexander retained full corporate control, preventing any competing claims to the family trust.
Now, that forgotten lineage had walked directly into Alexander’s private sanctuary, carrying a cracked plastic bucket and asking for handfuls of dirt to bury his mother—the very woman Alexander’s family had destroyed.
"My God," Maria whispered, tears welling in her eyes as she looked out at the thin, shivering boy. "His mother... she passed away in the Shadows?"
"Yes," Alexander said, his voice turning icy with a terrifying resolve. "And his sister... they had no medical care, no support, living in poverty while I sat up here in the clouds building wealth on the very foundation that ruined their lives."
He handed the phone back to the security guard, who stood at sharp attention, visibly moved by the truth that had just surfaced.
"Clear the floor," Alexander commanded the guard. "I want full privacy for the rest of the day. No staff, no security surrounding the garden. Just Maria and myself."
"Understood, sir," the guard replied, bowing his head slightly before quietly stepping back into the hallway and pulling the heavy double doors shut behind him.
Alexander turned back to Maria. The shock on his face had hardened into an absolute, unyielding decision. He adjusted the cuffs of his white dress shirt, his eyes glowing with an intense, burning purpose.
"Call the city coroner's office immediately," Alexander ordered, his voice crisp and lethal. "Tell them Alexander Morgan is taking personal charge of the Martinez family arrangements. I want the finest memorial park in the state prepared by this afternoon. And instruct our legal team to begin drafting full adoption and guardianship papers for Tommy Martinez."

Maria nodded frantically, already tapping commands into her tablet. "It will be done in ten minutes, Alexander."
"Good," Alexander said, placing his hand against the glass door. "Now... I am going to bring my nephew home."
