Chapter 4 - The Billionaire’s Command

Alexander immediately stood up. His movements were no longer slow or hesitant; they were driven by a sudden, fierce purpose. He didn't say another word to Tommy just yet, but offered the boy a firm, reassuring nod before turning on his heel and striding quickly back into his private office through the sliding glass doors.

Inside the sprawling office, Maria, Alexander’s longtime executive assistant, was standing near the large mahogany desk with a tablet in her hand, preparing to brief him on his morning schedule. At forty, Maria was crisp, exceptionally professional, and composed—a woman who had managed Alexander’s complex life for over fifteen years.

Alexander did not wait for her to speak. He reached into his pocket, pulled out his personal encryption-secured smartphone, and placed it firmly on the polished wood desk right in front of Maria.

“Cancel everything today,” Alexander ordered, his tone leaving zero room for debate.

Maria blinked, looking up in absolute surprise. In fifteen years, Alexander Morgan had never canceled a full day of meetings—not for market crashes, not for illness, and certainly not for unexpected personal matters.

“Alexander... you have the international consortium call in twenty minutes,” Maria began, her voice cautious. “And the merger signing with—”

“Cancel all of it,” Alexander interrupted, his eyes burning with an intense, commanding light. “Clear my entire schedule for the rest of the week if necessary. I need you to do something else immediately.”

He leaned over his desk, pointing toward his phone.

“Find everything you can about the Shadows community—the slum district on the south edge of the city. Locate the Martinez family. Call our head of legal and tell him to clear his entire morning. Then call domestic staff and have them prepare warm food, fresh clothes, and the guest suite on the top floor.”

Maria stared at him, utterly stunned by the sudden, radical shift in the billionaire’s behavior. She glanced past his shoulder through the massive glass doors, spotting the tiny, dirty boy standing alone on the pristine garden terrace.

“Alexander...” Maria asked, her voice dropping into a bewildered whisper. “Who are you bringing into this house?”
