Chapter 5 - TWO DIFFERENT LIES

Megan demanded everything.
No summaries.
No softened version.
Everything.
Andrew admitted he had met Rachel at a fundraiser less than a year after marrying Megan.
The affair began soon after.
When Rachel became pregnant, Andrew panicked.
He begged her not to tell Megan.
He paid for the apartment where Rachel raised Noah.
He attended birthdays.
School events.
Doctor’s appointments.
Secret weekends.
But that was not the whole lie.
To Rachel, Andrew claimed Megan knew about Noah but refused to let the boy enter their family life.
To Megan, Andrew claimed Rachel barely existed.
He had built two realities and lived comfortably between them.
Rachel died still believing Megan was the woman who had rejected her child.
Noah inherited that belief.
“That’s why he hates me,” Megan said.
Andrew’s face twisted.
“He doesn’t know the truth.”
“No,” Megan said. “He knows the truth you gave him.”
Andrew tried to reach for her.
She stepped back.
“Don’t touch me.”
For the first time, Andrew seemed to understand that this was not just about infidelity.
It was about years of deliberate architecture.

Every lie had been placed carefully.
And now the whole structure was collapsing.
