Chapter 7 - THE TRUTH UNVEILED

The silence inside the small bakery was absolute, thick, and suffocating. The staff behind the counter stood frozen, sensing the immediate, lethal tension radiating from the center of the room.

Mason stood at his full, towering height, his shirtless, tattoo-covered torso expanding with every heavy, controlled breath. The faded photograph was clutched firmly in his left hand, while his right hand reached back, gently resting over Emma’s small shoulder, securing his daughter behind his massive frame.

"You took her," Mason said, his voice dropping into a guttural, terrifying register that sounded like grinding stones. "Seven years ago... you took Sarah."

Daniel took a involuntary half-step backward toward the bakery door, his hand dropping reflexively toward the holstered service weapon on his belt. His clean-cut demeanor had completely shattered, replaced by the frantic, shifting eyes of a predator who suddenly realized he was trapped in a cage with a monster.

"You don't know what you're talking about, Cole," Daniel stammered out, trying desperately to regain his authoritative posture, though his voice cracked on the final word. "I'm a detective with the County Sheriff's Department. That child is legally in my custody. Hand her over right now, or every deputy in this district will be on this building in five minutes."

One of Mason’s brothers—a massive, beard-covered biker named Tank—let out a cold, deep laugh from behind his dark sunglasses.

"Call 'em," Tank growled softly, stepping two inches closer to Daniel, his broad frame blocking the front exit door. "Please, detective. Call every single one of 'em. We'd love to show 'em what you've been doing in your spare time."

Emma peeked out from behind Mason’s hip, her small brown eyes wide as she looked at the giant man standing in front of her. "Daddy...?" she whispered softly, the word slipping from her lips naturally as she felt the absolute, undeniable bond radiating from his body.

Mason’s heart shattered and reformed in a single second. He didn't look back, but his broad hand squeezed her shoulder with infinite tenderness.

"I've got you, Emma," Mason promised softly, his eyes never leaving Daniel's pale face. "Your daddy's right here. And no one is ever taking you again."
