Chapter 10 - THE BREACH INTO DARKNESS

The heavy steel doors hissed open as Monroe approached, revealing the dark asphalt of the airfield outside, where the rotors of two stealth transport helicopters were already beginning to spin into a low, thundering roar under the night sky.
Every operator in the room stood rigid, their eyes following her as she passed. Collins stepped back, lowering his head slightly in silent, terrified respect as the mechanic walked past him.
Captain Martinez grabbed his tactical helmet from the briefing table and looked at General Gerald.
"Sir," Martinez said, his voice steadying. "Who is she?"
General Gerald stood at the head of the briefing table, staring out at the spinning helicopter blades in the darkness outside. He did not look at Martinez, nor did he offer a name, a unit designation, or a classified record.
"Get your gear, Captain," General Gerald said softly, his voice heavy with the weight of unwritten history. "And make sure you stay behind her when the shooting starts."
Outside on the tarmac, Monroe walked steadily toward the open side door of the lead transport helicopter. The wind from the spinning rotors whipped her blonde ponytail across her shoulders, pressing her grease-stained olive coveralls tight against her frame.

She climbed into the dark cabin of the aircraft, placing the locked black case across her knees. As the heavy transport began to lift off the concrete, rising into the starless night sky above the base, Monroe reached down with her right hand, her fingers gently touching the cold, dark scar of the split triangle on her left wrist.
The briefing room behind her was empty now, but the glowing tactical map remained on, reflecting the new operational flight path—a straight, unyielding line heading directly into the heart of the storm.
