Richard responded to separation exactly as I expected.
First apology.
Then anger.
Then concern.
Then reputation management.
He told friends I had staged the confrontation.
Said I had been “planning to leave for months.”
That part was true.
He said Julian had manipulated me with promises of money.
False.
He said I was keeping Lily from him.
Also false.
My attorney arranged temporary parenting terms quickly.
Richard had supervised access initially because of the physical conduct witnessed at the party and the broader allegations I documented.
The backyard video helped.
Vanessa had filmed almost everything.
She tried deleting it.
Guests had copies.
Several people recorded from other angles too.
The video showed:
Richard gripping my hair.
My face hitting the cake.
His hand around my wrist.
Lily crying.
Olivia watching.
It did not prove years of emotional abuse.
It proved one afternoon.
I had records for the rest.
Texts.
Bank messages.
A photograph of the bedroom door after the shove.
Emails where Richard demanded I quit work.
Messages telling me I needed permission before taking Lily to visit Rachel.
