Chapter 6 - CAMILA’S REAL POSITION
Camila claimed she had been misled.
She said Alejandro told her we were separated, that my classified work had become a convenient excuse to avoid formalizing the end of our marriage, and that the trust would soon recognize him as the true owner of Grant Meridian.
Some of that may have been true.
But her messages showed she knew more than she admitted.
Naomi recovered exchanges between Camila and Alejandro discussing how to create pressure before my return. Camila suggested turning the house into evidence that I had abandoned my family. She advised removing my photographs, canceling Valeria’s childcare, and ensuring household employees began treating her as the decision-maker.
One message read:
If Isabella comes back and sees everything already functioning without her, she may sign just to avoid a public fight.
Another read:
The child will adjust once she understands her mother is no longer central.
Camila was not merely fooled by a married man.
She had helped convert my absence into a strategy.
Still, she had misunderstood the power structure. She assumed Alejandro’s title granted him ownership. She believed becoming his partner would give her access to the company, mansion, and fortune.
Naomi explained the reality calmly.
The house belonged to the Grant Family Trust.
The controlling company shares belonged to the trust.
Alejandro’s executive authority could be suspended by the board.
Camila’s temporary appointment as company secretary had never been properly authorized.
The documents she certified had no force.
Camila looked at Alejandro.
“You told me the trust was ceremonial.”
He said nothing.
“You said she had signed control over after Valeria was born.”
Still nothing.
Her face changed as she finally saw him clearly.
He had lied to her about what he owned in the same way he lied to investors about what he had built.
