Chapter 5 - THE EMBLEM OF 1978

After twenty triumphant minutes of marching, the parade procession came to a graceful halt near the central town square, where food stalls, music, and gatherings were underway. Kids hopped off their decorated bicycles to grab cold lemonade, while families gathered on the lawn to celebrate.

Ben parked his decorated wheelchair near the park gazebo, surrounded by admiring townspeople who praised his cherry-red car design. Duke stood a few feet back near his motorcycle, leaning against the leather saddle, watching the young boy beam with newfound confidence.

Standing near the edge of the brick plaza was an Elderly Biker. He was seventy-two years old, with long silver hair tucked under a worn leather cap, wearing a faded black leather vest covered in vintage patches from decades past.

The Elderly Biker had been watching Ben continuously throughout the entire parade. His weathered face held a deep, emotional expression—a mixture of profound sadness, nostalgia, and quiet wonder, as if staring at a living memory from a forgotten era.

Slowly, deliberately, the Elderly Biker stepped away from the crowd and approached Ben’s wheelchair. He moved with a slight limp, his eyes never leaving the young boy’s face.

Reaching inside the inner chest pocket of his faded vest, the old man pulled out a small, yellowed object. He held it gently between his trembling, calloused fingers.

Without uttering a single word, the Elderly Biker leaned down and extended his hand, handing a small, worn photograph directly to Ben.
