Chapter 10 - The Sovereign Return

Ten minutes later, the heavy rear loading dock doors of Il Destino swung open into the cool night air of the private alleyway.
Waiting in the alley was a convoy of three armored black SUVs, their engines idling quietly, surrounded by eight heavily armed Moretti security guards wearing dark suits and tactical earpieces.
The lead guard immediately opened the rear door of the center armored vehicle, bowing his head in deep respect as Rico, Isabella, and Leo stepped out into the night.
Isabella paused at the threshold of the SUV. She reached down, untying the cream-colored canvas server apron from her waist. She tossed the apron onto the concrete floor of the loading dock, letting the last symbol of her four-year imprisonment fall into the dark dust.
She stepped into the back of the luxurious armored vehicle, sitting down on the rich black leather seats, pulling her son onto her lap.
Rico climbed in beside her, closing the heavy, bulletproof door with a solid, pressurized THUD.
He reached into his Brioni suit jacket, pulled out a satellite communications device, and dialed his master counsel in Zurich.
"Execute protocol Omega," Rico commanded into the receiver, his voice cold, steady, and triumphant. "Restore all master keys to my wife, Isabella Moretti, effective immediately. The matriarch has returned."
He hung up the phone, sliding it into his pocket, and turned to look at his family.
Isabella sat beside him, her hair falling loosely around her shoulders, holding their sleeping son tightly against her chest as the armored SUV pulled smoothly out of the alleyway, joining the convoy as it accelerated down the sunlit city avenue toward the private family estate.

Her memory was restored. Her son was in her arms. Her husband was by her side.
And the throne that had been stolen from her four years ago was hers once again.
