Chapter 10 - The Clear Horizon

One year later.

The sun shone brightly over the courtyard of the Chicago Institute of Technology, illuminating bright purple banners and hundreds of graduating students in black caps and gowns.

Nineteen-year-old Leo stood on the primary commencement stage, receiving his early Bachelor of Science degree in Cybersecurity and Systems Architecture—graduating first in his class.

The applause from the audience roared across the courtyard as the Dean presented him with his diploma.

In the front row, Elena sat beside ten-year-old Toby and Marcus, her face radiant with joy, clapping proudly as her eldest son held his degree high into the air.

After the ceremony, the family gathered near the central stone fountain, surrounded by blooming cherry blossom trees.

“Congratulations, graduate,” Elena said, pulling Leo into a long, deep embrace, kissing his cheek.

“Couldn't have done it without my favorite client,” Leo joked, stepping back and flashing his signature calm smile.

Toby ran up, hugging his brother around the waist. “Does this mean you’re going to build super-computers now, Leo?”

“It means I’m going to build systems that protect people, Toby,” Leo answered gently, ruffling his younger brother’s hair. “Systems that keep families safe.”

Elena looked up at the clear, cloudless blue sky, feeling the warm spring wind against her skin.

The dark shadows of betrayal, secret accounts, and stolen dresses were entirely gone, replaced by the solid, unyielding foundation of a family that had fought for its truth and won.

Leo put his arm around his mother’s shoulders, Toby took her hand, and together, they walked forward into the bright, clear horizon of their new life.
