Chapter 10 - The Wedding on the Lake

On a warm Saturday afternoon in July, we were married on the lawn of our Excelsior lake house.
The weather was flawless—a gentle summer breeze rustled through the green oak trees, and the clear blue waters of Lake Minnetonka sparkled in the background under the bright afternoon sun.
We kept the wedding small and intimate—fifty of our closest friends, staff, foundation partners, and Rosalind’s father, who had fully recovered his health and stood proudly beside his daughter.
Leo and Julian served as my dual best men. They walked down the aisle together in custom black tuxedos, holding the velvet ring pillow with extreme seriousness, making the entire gathering of guests smile warmly.
When the music shifted to a soft acoustic guitar melody, Rosalind stepped onto the flower-lined aisle, walking arm-in-arm with her father.
She was breathtaking. She wore an off-the-shoulder gown of delicate ivory lace, her dark hair styled in soft waves adorned with white jasmine flowers.
As her father placed her hand in mine at the alter, tears filled my eyes.
"Take care of my girl, Christopher," her father murmured softly, his eyes shining with emotion.
"With my life, sir," I answered.
The minister spoke warm, meaningful words about resilience, forgiveness, and the enduring power of love that survives the darkest storms.
When we exchanged our vows, I looked into Rosalind’s eyes, holding both of her warm hands in mine.
"Rosalind," I said, my voice thick with emotion. "Six years ago, I thought I lost the best part of my life. I didn't know that miles away, you were raising the two greatest gifts I would ever receive. Thank you for forgiving me, for trusting me, and for bringing me home. I give you my whole heart, forever."
Rosalind smiled through her happy tears, her hands trembling gently in mine.
"Christopher," she spoke softly, her voice carrying across the quiet lawn. "You showed me that true love doesn't just endure—it fights. You fought for me, you fought for our sons, and you built a world where we can thrive together. You are my home, my love, and my best friend."
"I now pronounce you husband and wife!" the minister announced with a broad smile. "Christopher, you may kiss your bride!"

I pulled Rosalind into my arms, dipping her slightly as I kissed her deeply under the clear blue summer sky.
The crowd burst into cheering and applause, and Leo and Julian rushed forward, throwing their arms around our legs, joining our tight, beautiful family embrace.
