Chapter 6 - The Unseen Watcher

I left Wellesley at 2:00 AM and drove back to my private penthouse in downtown Boston.

Sleep was impossible. I spent the remaining hours of the night in my home office, pouring through digitized corporate archives from four years ago.

The deeper I dug, the darker the ledger became.

The two hundred thousand dollar trust fund set up for Marissa Keane wasn't paid out of Whitmore Group’s official legal reserves. It had been funneled through a shell company registered in the Cayman Islands—a company named Aegis Holdings.

When I cross-referenced Aegis Holdings against our internal payroll records, I found seven other monthly payments being made to individuals across Massachusetts.

Seven names.

I printed the list. Every single one of them was connected to major industrial accidents at Whitmore facilities over the past decade: a crane collapse in New Bedford, a chemical spill in Fall River, a structural collapse at a shipping dock in South Boston.

My family hadn't just covered up David Keane's death. They had built a systematic, corporate infrastructure designed to buy, intimidate, and suppress the victims of their negligence.

At 7:00 AM, my phone chimed on the desk.

It was a text message from Marissa:

“Adrian, someone is standing outside my apartment building. A black sedan has been parked across the street since 5:00 AM. I’m scared.”

My blood ran cold. I grabbed my coat, took my car keys, and sprinted for the elevator.

Richard wasn't waiting for me to make a move. He was moving first.
