Chapter 5 - THE RED FOLDER

The red folder Judge Reed dropped contained a statement from Leah Morris.
Leah was twenty-six and had worked for Vanessa for less than a year. She believed she had been hired to manage executive communications. Instead, Vanessa gradually assigned her to monitor me.
Leah copied social-media posts.
Tracked my meetings.
Recorded when I entered company offices.
Edited clips of me appearing tired after medical appointments.
The night before the hearing, Vanessa sent her a written filming plan.
Begin recording after Brooke touches her. Keep Ethan visible and calm. Do not capture the first contact if possible. If Natalie becomes physical, upload immediately to the crisis folder.
The message disturbed Leah.
Then she saw another file attached to the folder.
A draft press release.
REED MEDICAL SYSTEMS RESPONDS TO CHAIRWOMAN’S PUBLIC COURTROOM BREAKDOWN
The release described my “violent episode” in detail.
It had been written twelve hours before the episode was supposed to occur.
Leah searched the shared drive and found more:
Dr. Avery’s prewritten incapacity note.
A diagram showing where Vanessa and Brooke should sit.
Instructions telling Ethan not to intervene physically.
An edited version of paragraph forty-seven with the triggering language highlighted.
A list of reporters who would receive the video.
A transfer schedule for company funds beginning the afternoon of the hearing.
Leah copied everything.
At 6:20 that morning, she contacted Maya.
Maya filed the sealed emergency complaint with the court and asked federal marshals to preserve all electronic evidence if anyone attempted intimidation during the hearing.
Judge Reed was carrying the administrative packet into the courtroom when the assault happened.
Leah still followed Vanessa’s instruction to hold up the phone.
But she did not frame me.
She recorded continuously from the moment Vanessa raised her heel.
Her video captured the kick.
Brooke’s threat.
Ethan’s smile.
Their glance toward the camera.

And the sentence about the next accident.
The woman positioned to manufacture evidence against me became the witness who preserved the truth.
