Chapter 6 - The Father Who Wanted Photographs
Mark requested supervised visits with the triplets.
At the first session, he arrived with matching blankets and a photographer.
The supervisor turned the photographer away.
Mark held Grace for less than five minutes before asking when he could post pictures. Lily began crying, and he handed her back immediately. He refused to hold Hope because she looked “too fragile.”
Then he asked whether the girls’ birth had activated the education trust.
I watched through the observation window with Rachel beside me.
Even after losing his wife, his home, and access to his children, he was still calculating.
The court reviewed the hospital call records, Madison’s deleted post, the forged financial documents, and Mark’s message predicting I would sign whatever made life easier after the birth.
His request for unsupervised access was denied until he completed parenting courses and complied with the financial investigation.
The separation became a divorce.
Our house had been purchased primarily with money from my father’s trust, so Mark could not force me to sell it. I chose not to return immediately. Claire and I packed his belongings while the girls remained safely with a nurse.
Madison closed her company after investors learned its opening funds were disputed. She stopped answering Mark’s calls and later testified that he had promised to leave me once the triplets were born.
Mark lost his job when his employer discovered he used company equipment to prepare forged documents.
