Chapter 7 - THE SECOND KEY

The gray-haired rider did not get off his motorcycle.
He sat quietly under the harsh white canopy lights, his piercing gray eyes scanning the assembly of club members until they locked directly onto Elena Reyes.
He looked at the oversized vest hanging off her narrow shoulders. He looked at her dark ponytail, her fair skin, and the quiet determination in her eyes.
A subtle, unreadable expression passed across his weathered face—neither a smile nor a frown, but a quiet, intense recognition that seemed to bridge fifteen years of silence.
He didn't speak. He didn't offer a name, an explanation, or a greeting to the men he had once called brothers.
Instead, the stranger slowly reached his right gloved hand inside the inner pocket of his worn leather vest.
The bikers around Cole tensed instantly, two of them taking defensive positions behind the metal picnic tables. Cole raised a single hand, signaling his men to hold their ground.
The gray-haired rider pulled his hand out of his vest.
He held his palm open under the bright station lights.
Resting in his gloved hand was a second small metal key.
It was identical in shape, material, and age to the one currently sitting in Cole’s hand—except this second key gleamed slightly brighter, free of the heavy tarnish that covered Daniel's.
Elena looked down at the stamped 317 key resting in Cole’s palm.
Then she looked back up at the stranger sitting on the black motorcycle twenty feet away.

The gray-haired rider closed his fingers around the second key, tilted his head slightly toward the illuminated glass storefront of the travel station, and made a simple, unmistakable gesture.
He was telling them that whatever locker, safety box, or vault bore the number 317, it required both keys to be turned at the exact same time.
