Chapter 3 - THE SEIZURE AT THE BRACELET

Before the echo of Ruby’s voice could fade, Claudia moved.
Throwing aside every shred of her usual aristocratic composure, she dropped to her knees on the marble floor. Her skirt bunched around her legs, her manicured fingers scrambling across the polished stone like claws, lunging directly toward the second object: the small, faded plastic hospital bracelet.
She was inches from grabbing it.
SNAP.
Adrian’s tattooed left hand shot out like an iron vice. His fingers clamped around Claudia’s right wrist, catching her mid-reach with bone-crushing force.
The impact of his grip stopped her dead.
"Don't," Adrian growled.
The word was barely above a whisper, but it vibrated with a lethal, terrifying resonance that sent a shudder through the foundation of the room. He didn't just hold her wrist; he anchored her, his thumb pressing directly into the radial bone with the practiced control of a man who broke physical structures for a living.
Claudia winced, the pain cutting through her panic, but she did not look down at his grip. Her frantic blue eyes looked straight into his, her face contorted in desperate pleading.
"Give me that," Claudia hissed, her voice trembling, her fingers straining toward the plastic strip. "Adrian, please. It’s nothing. It’s hospital waste! Let me dispose of it!"
Adrian leaned forward, his face inches from hers, his dark eyes boring into her skull with a cold, terrifying clarity that seemed to strip away her skin.
"Why?" Adrian asked softly.
Claudia’s mouth opened, but no words emerged. Her chest heaved, her eyes darting wildly between his face, the open seam of the blanket, and the door behind him.
At that exact second, the heavy walnut double doors of the study parted six inches.
A tall, broad-shouldered security guard in a dark charcoal suit stepped into the threshold. His hands were clasped in front of him, but his posture was sharp, his eyes scanning the room as he assessed the physical struggle on the floor.

"Sir?" the guard asked, his voice low, ready for an order. "Do you require assistance?"
Claudia looked at the guard, then looked back at Adrian’s unblinking, predatory stare. She had no answer. Her silence hung in the air like a confession of guilt.
