Chapter 9 - THE ROSE AND THE REVELATION

Ethan walked slowly back toward the reception counter.

He carefully lowered his body into a deep crouch, setting Lily gently onto her feet on the polished marble. He kept his strong arm wrapped securely around her waist as she stood beside his boots, holding her stuffed rabbit tightly against her pink dress.

Ethan reached out with his free hand, picking up the bouquet of twelve deep-red roses from the counter.

He pulled a small, silver-embossed gift card tucked deep within the green stems—a card written in delicate, familiar handwriting that had remained sealed in his jacket pocket for two years.

He looked up at Helena, his voice completely calm, filled with an immovable, absolute clarity.

"Sarah didn't sign asset transfers, Helena," Ethan said softly. "Sarah built the mountain trust to ensure that forty percent of this hotel's annual revenue went directly into a medical foundation for children's health in Denver."

He held up the silver-embossed card.

"She signed this deed of gift on her last birthday," Ethan continued. "Co-signed by my legal counsel in San Diego. The mountain properties can never be sold, restructured, or transferred to the board. They belong permanently to Lily's trust."

Helena stared at the card, her eyes wide with sudden, total realization. The manila envelope in her hands felt suddenly weightless, useless, and fraudulent.

Mercer came running back into the lobby, his tie loosened, holding a thick leather-bound master ledger and a stack of printed audit files.

"Mr. Vance!" Mercer panted, setting the files on the desk beside Lupita. "The... the transfer authorization was uploaded from an unauthorized external server at four o'clock today! It... it wasn't approved by the trust!"

Claire stared at the documents on the desk, her face pale with shame as she realized the true depth of the corporate conspiracy she had unwittingly facilitated by judging the rugged biker standing before her.

Lupita looked up from her terminal, her eyes shining with admiration. "The Executive Suite is fully unlocked and ready, Mr. Vance. The original portrait of Mrs. Vance is resting in the main parlor, exactly where she placed it."
