Chapter 13 - A New Era

Two months later, the spring sun shone brightly over the headquarters of the Pendelton Group.
The front lobby was filled with hundreds of employees, board members, and international press representatives for the rescheduled welcome gala for the new Group CEO.
I stood on the glass balcony overlooking the soaring atrium, wearing an elegant cream-colored silk gown—pure, spotless, and radiant under the crystal chandeliers.
Arthur Pendelton stepped up to the podium, his voice echoing through the acoustics of the hall.
"Ladies and gentlemen," Arthur announced, gesturing toward the balcony. "It is my profound honor to introduce the Leader of the Pendelton Group, our Chief Executive Officer—Evelyn Pendelton!"
The lobby erupted into thunderous, sustained applause.
I stepped up to the microphone, looking down at the hundreds of faces smiling up at me—men and women from every level of the company, from the executive directors to the janitorial staff standing near the entrance.
"Thank you," I said, my voice warm, clear, and confident. "When I stepped into this building two months ago, I was reminded of a simple truth: a company's strength is not measured by the height of its executive suites, but by the dignity with which it treats every single person who walks through its doors."

The crowd cheered warmly.
"From this day forward," I continued, "there are no hidden doors in this company. There are no privileged floors. We build together, we respect each other, and we lead with integrity."
