Chapter 8 - THE LAST MESSAGE MARK SENT

Six months after the attack, Mark sent one final message through the parenting application required for supervised communication.
He wrote that he had made terrible mistakes because of pressure from his family. He said the vasectomy had been his private decision and the fertility money had become impossible to repay. He claimed he organized the backyard confrontation because he needed time, not because he wanted me seriously injured.
At the end, he wrote:
I never thought they would go that far.
I read the sentence twice.
Then I opened the group chat Mia had preserved.
Everyone be in the backyard by four.
No neighbors.
Keep the girls inside.
Take her keys first.
Mark had spent his entire life believing responsibility ended one step before the final consequence. He arranged the people, the place, the lie, and the locked door, then claimed surprise when violence followed.
I answered only once.
You did not lose control of your family. You gave them instructions.
After that, all communication went through counsel and the child-contact supervisor.
