Chapter 4 - THE SUBURBAN TAKEDOWN

The strike was fast, heavy, and meant to intimidate—a telegraphed punch born of tavern brawls and unchecked ego.
To the average onlooker, the punch was a terrifying flash of muscle. But to Jessica, whose real work involved operating alongside the military's most elite close-quarters specialists in classified environments, Marcus's movement appeared almost sluggish.
In the fraction of a second before the fist could connect, Jessica’s expression transformed completely. Her quiet, understated aura vanished, replaced by an absolute, lethal focus.
She didn't duck or step backward. She slipped outside the line of the strike, stepping fluidly past Marcus's lead foot.
Snap.
Her left hand shot up like a striking viper, wrapping around Marcus's right wrist with a vise-like grip. Simultaneously, her right forearm drove upward, trapping his elbow and neutralizing the power behind his shoulder.
Before Marcus could even realize his punch had missed, Jessica executed a sharp, ninety-degree hip pivot. Utilizing his heavy forward momentum against him, she drove his upper body down toward the earth with flawless, mathematical leverage.
THUD!
The impact rattled the patio stones as Marcus’s heavy two-hundred-and-forty-pound frame hit the manicured grass edge with brutal force. Air rushed out of his lungs in a sharp, guttural gasp.
The entire backyard erupted into shocked, gasping silence. The smartphones held by the teenagers froze in mid-air.
Marcus, blinded by rage and humiliation, immediately roared and tried to push himself off the ground using his free arm.
Jessica didn't hesitate. In one continuous, terrifyingly smooth motion, she dropped her knee onto the center of his shoulder blade, spun his right arm up behind his spine in an inescapable wrist-and-shoulder lock, and pinned him flat against the grass.
She hadn't thrown a single punch. She hadn't kicked him. She had dismantled a man almost twice her size in under two seconds without a scratch on her olive tank top.

Jessica leaned down, her face inches from his ear, her voice dropping into an icy, quiet whisper that chilled him to his core:
"Stay down."
