Chapter 9 - THE UNBROKEN BOND

The vast living room was quiet once more. The red sunset had faded into a deep, velvety twilight over Biscayne Bay, casting long, peaceful blue shadows across the marble floor.
Grace stood near the mahogany side table, her hands resting gently on Noah’s shoulders. The throbbing pain in her cheek had settled into a dull ache, but the emotional storm that had just swept through the house left her feeling exhausted and unsure of her standing.
Noah looked up at his father, his small brow furrowed with concern as he pointed to Grace’s face.
"Daddy," Noah whispered softly. "Mama Grace’s face is hurt."
Leo walked slowly across the living room toward them. The heavy, terrifying aura that had filled the room during the confrontation melted away with every step he took toward his son.
He dropped down onto both knees in front of them, bringing himself eye-level with Grace and Noah.
Leo reached into his suit pocket, pulled out a clean, folded silk handkerchief, and gently held it out toward Grace.
"May I?" Leo asked softly, his voice rough with rare emotion.
Grace hesitated for half a second, then offered a small, brave nod. "Yes."
Leo reached out with his massive, calloused hand. With extreme gentleness—a touch so soft it seemed impossible for a man who commanded a crime syndicate—he pressed the cool silk handkerchief against the swollen red skin of Grace’s cheekbone.
Grace’s breath hitched slightly at the physical closeness, her hazel eyes locking onto his dark, intense gaze. Up close, she could see the faint lines of exhaustion around his eyes, the deep love he held for his son, and a profound, quiet respect that she had never seen him direct toward anyone else.
"I am sorry, Grace," Leo said, his voice low and sincere. "I am sorry that my family brought violence to your face. You have given my son peace for three years, and I allowed a fool to disrespect you in my house."
Grace reached up, placing her small hand over his long fingers, holding the silk handkerchief against her cheek.
"You don't have to apologize, Leo," Grace whispered, calling him by his first name for the very first time in three years. "I would take ten slaps before I let anyone make Noah feel unsafe."
Noah smiled, wrapping his tiny arms around both of their necks, pulling his father and Grace into a tight, warm hug.
May you like
"I love you, Mama Grace," Noah murmured happily, burying his face in her shoulder. "I love you, Daddy."
Leo closed his eyes for a brief second, his powerful arms wrapping around both his son and Grace, holding them close against his chest in the quiet twilight of the Miami estate.
