Chapter 7 - The Third Player

Daniel stood up from the wooden table, pacing across the small cottage room, his mind racing through every detail of his childhood.

He remembered strange, unexplained tension between his father and mother during the late nineties. He remembered Arthur spending long, silent hours locked in his study, drinking scotch while staring at an old, unlabeled silver pocket watch. He remembered Claire’s unyielding obsession with corporate dominance, inherited directly from her mother, Evelyn.

"Michael is alive," Daniel said, turning back to Thomas. "Where is he?"

"I don't know his current location," Thomas admitted, shaking his head. "After he was released from private care in 2005, he assumed a completely new identity. He spent fifteen years rebuilding his mind, acquiring vast financial resources, and quietly buying up small blocks of shares in Stallone Holdings through offshore shell corporations."

"Wait," Marcus interrupted, pulling out his secure tactical tablet. "Offshore shell corporations buying Stallone stock? I ran an equity audit on the firm three months ago for Daniel's trustee meeting. There was an anonymous entity called Aegis Heritage Limited that acquired a twelve percent voting stake over the last eighteen months."

Thomas nodded slowly. "That's him. Michael isn't trying to destroy Stallone Enterprises, Daniel. He's trying to reclaim it. But he believes you are part of the conspiracy."

Daniel froze. "Me?"

"To Michael, you are Arthur’s favored son," Thomas explained gently. "You grew up with the private tutors, the grand estate, the love, the legacy, and the executive appointments. While Michael was sitting in a locked room at Oakridge listening to the rain, you were being groomed to inherit the empire built on his mother's blood."

"I didn't know!" Daniel shouted, his voice echoing loudly off the stone walls of the cottage. "I was two years old when Eleanor died! I didn't know he existed until three hours ago!"

"It doesn't matter what you knew, Daniel," Thomas said quietly. "What matters is what you do now. Claire and Derek know Michael is out there. That's why Derek was scrubbing the 1994 archives last night. They realized Aegis Heritage was closing in on their illegal land trust diversions. They staged that attack on your daughter at the gala to force you out of the trustee appointment on Monday so Derek could liquidate the 1994 assets before Michael takes control!"

Daniel’s phone buzzed sharply on the table.

It was an urgent text message from Sarah, his daughter's nanny at the hotel:

MR. STALLONE — TWO MEN CLAIMING TO BE FROM CORPORATE SECURITY JUST ARRIVED AT THE SUITE WITH A WRITTEN TRANSFER ORDER SIGNED BY CLAIRE STALLONE. THEY ARE DEMANDING TO TAKE LILY TO THE COUNTRY ESTATE. WHAT DO I DO?

May you like

Daniel’s eyes turned cold as shattered glass.

"Marcus," Daniel barked, grabbing his jacket. "We’re going back to the city."
