Chapter 5 - Ghost Six

“Shut your mouth or I’ll put you down myself!”

Marcus stared up at Garrett.

She could have fought him.

The angle of his weight was wrong. His elbow was too high. His attention was split between her and the radio.

But fighting him would waste seconds the convoy did not have.

So she pointed with her eyes.

“Check his terminal.”

Prophet moved first.

He had noticed Henderson’s hidden override seconds before the struggle but had not understood it. Now he crouched beside the cracked monitor and pulled up the background processes.

A recognition program was running behind the wind controls.

It had been scanning Marcus since she entered the bunker.

Henderson had recognized her before Garrett did.

Prophet opened the match result.

His mouth went dry.

“Chief… she’s Ghost Six.”

Garrett stared at him.

“That’s impossible.”

Prophet turned the screen slightly.

The display was blurred to everyone farther away, but Garrett saw enough.

Captain Marcus Stone.

Tactical Unit Blackwood.

Classified operator.

Status: deceased.

Marcus pushed the rifle away.

“I had to stay dead.”

Garrett stepped back, his anger losing shape.

Henderson moved on the floor.

Two SEALs restrained him properly this time.

Marcus stood.

“Henderson fed you false wind data.”

Garrett looked toward the tactical console, where the corrupted feed was still collapsing.

Then the canyon radio erupted again.

“They’re moving the hostage toward a second vehicle. We have minutes.”

The room stopped caring whether ghosts were possible.

They needed one.
