Chapter 3 - THE COLLISION THAT NEVER HAPPENED

Hospital staff contacted local police because the injuries and my statement indicated domestic violence.
But Dr. Grant also called someone else.
Before becoming a trauma surgeon, he had served on a hospital committee that worked with an insurance-fraud task force. He knew staged collisions often arrived with polished stories, controlling companions, and injuries that did not fit the vehicle history.
Caleb had been too prepared.
He provided a road name before anyone asked.
He gave an exact speed.
He described an animal no one had seen and damage no one had checked.
While I was in imaging, he had already opened an insurance claim.
The claim stated that I had been driving alone when the SUV struck a concrete divider. Caleb listed himself as arriving afterward and transporting me to the hospital.
Yet hospital security footage showed him driving the SUV into the emergency entrance with me in the passenger seat.
The vehicle’s telematics created an even larger problem.
There had been no collision event.
No airbag signal.
No sudden deceleration.
No recorded impact.
The SUV had remained parked on the same residential street for thirty-eight minutes before traveling directly to the hospital.
Caleb had called the insurance company while we were still on that street.
Before he drove me anywhere.

He did not invent the crash merely to hide the assault.
He wanted the assault to become the crash.
