Chapter 3 - THE IMPOSSIBLE DEFLECTION

The moment the whistle died, Sergeant Briggs exploded forward. Leveraging his superior reach and weight advantage, he launched a vicious, high-velocity low kick aimed directly at the lateral joint of Avery’s lead left knee—a brutal strike designed to hyper-extend her leg and end the bout instantly.
The crowd gasped as the heavy blow whistled through the air.
Avery did not retreat or attempt to jump backward. At the precise millisecond before Briggs’ shin made contact with her leg, she executed a micro-pivot on her rear foot, shifting her body weight three inches off the attack axis. The devastating kick sliced through empty air.
Before Briggs could retract his leg, Avery’s hands moved with terrifying, fluid speed.
Her right hand scooped beneath his rising heel while her left hand clamped with a vise-like grip over his calf muscle, instantly capturing his leg at the peak of its momentum.

The entire training facility fell into an immediate, shocked silence. The cheers from the bleachers vanished mid-breath.
Briggs’ eyes widened in sudden, disorienting horror as he found himself frozen on one foot, his balance completely compromised by a woman half his size.
