Chapter 4 - ONE EXPLOSIVE SECOND

Knox exploded forward.

It was a terrifying display of raw physical force. Two hundred and twenty pounds of trained military muscle launched across the six-foot gap in a fraction of a second. His right hand came whistling through the air in a heavy, lethal arc aimed directly at her jaw—a punch designed to end the fight instantly and send her unconscious onto the rubber mat.

The crowd gasped as the blow cut through the air with a loud whoosh.

In that exact microsecond, the woman moved.

She didn't block. She didn't duck backwards. She moved into his attack vector, stepping inside the turning radius of his heavy right hook before his fist could reach maximum velocity.

Her movement was a single, seamless blur of biomechanical precision.

Her left hand shot out like a steel piston, her open palm striking the inner crook of Knox's right elbow, deflecting his massive arm harmlessly over her left shoulder. Simultaneously, her right foot planted deep between Knox's legs, lowering her center of gravity by three inches.

Before Knox could realize his punch had missed, the woman drove the heel of her left palm upward into his solar plexus, slamming into his diaphragm with the force of a hydraulic ram.

THWACK.

The sound echoed through the high-ceilinged gym like a rifle shot.

Knox’s eyes bulged. All the air in his lungs was instantly expelled in a violent, wheezing gasp. His body doubled over instinctively—and that was precisely where she wanted his head.

Without stopping her momentum, the woman rotated her hips ninety degrees to the left. Her right forearm swept up in a tight, devastating arc, her elbow striking Knox directly on the point of his jaw with mathematical accuracy.

CRACK.

The force of the impact snapped Knox's head sideways. His feet left the black rubber mat entirely.

For one impossible second, the massive two-hundred-and-twenty-pound soldier hung suspended in mid-air, completely horizontal, his eyes rolled back in his head, before slamming violently onto the floorboards with a crash that shook the metal equipment racks ten feet away.
