Chapter 7 - THE CAMERA ABOVE THE DOOR

I released Trent and stepped back.
He swung at me.
The punch never landed.
One of his assistant coaches, Evan Price, caught his arm.
“Stop,” Evan said. “The camera got all of it.”
Above the gym entrance was a security camera Trent had installed after a series of vehicle break-ins.
It recorded him blocking our truck, withholding Leo’s property, shoving me and causing Leo to fall.
It also recorded me asking to leave three times.
Trent immediately ordered Evan to delete the footage.
Evan refused.
That refusal changed the case.
He had worked at Holloway Combat Academy for four years and had witnessed the Wolf Program become more dangerous each season. He preserved the parking-lot video and provided internal messages showing Trent instructed coaches not to document head injuries.
Another coach turned over a schedule of unregistered youth sparring nights.
Owen’s mother signed her statement.
Then three more parents did.
The city temporarily suspended the gym’s youth-program permit pending inspection. The athletic commission referred the unregistered events for review. A child-welfare investigator requested the training videos.
The gym did not close forever that afternoon.
No squad of officers rushed in because I lifted Trent off the ground.
The consequences came through records, witnesses and people who finally decided silence cost more than speaking.
Trent posted online that an unstable parent had attacked him.
The parking-lot video showed otherwise.
He said Leo had fallen on his own.
The camera showed the shove.
He claimed the Wolf Program was ordinary conditioning.
His own messages described injured teenagers as “content.”
Calvin Holloway contacted Marcus and offered to pay his remaining medical expenses if he withdrew his old statement.
Marcus recorded the call legally under Wisconsin law and gave it to investigators.

The number 285 had not frightened Trent because of what I could do to his body.
It frightened him because it connected his gym to a history his father had never truly buried.
