Chapter 6 - THE MONEY BEHIND THE SCHOOL STORY
Westbridge immediately placed a hold on Daniel and Vanessa’s access to Lily until authorities reviewed the conflict.
That did not mean the school handed my daughter to me and declared everything solved.
Police took statements.
Child protective services interviewed Lily privately.
Grace obtained an emergency family-court hearing. Daniel hired an aggressive legal team and claimed I had consented to the arrangement because social anxiety prevented me from attending school.
The recording contradicted him.
So did his files.
A forensic review of his computer recovered the draft presumed-death petition, altered parent records and messages between him and Vanessa.
Their relationship had begun six years earlier.
But the affair was only one part of the plan.
Westbridge tuition and donations had been paid from Lily’s education trust.
The trust allowed money to be used for legitimate schooling, therapy, transportation and child-development expenses.
Daniel submitted reimbursement requests for:
Specialized counseling Lily never received.
Private transportation far more expensive than the actual car service.
Summer academic programs that were family vacations with Vanessa.
Security services supposedly required because Maya was dangerous.
A $480,000 “legacy education contribution” pledged to Westbridge in Lily’s name.
That contribution funded the glass-walled hall where the reception was being held.
Daniel used Lily’s money to purchase social credibility for the woman replacing her mother.
Over seven years, approximately $1.1 million had been withdrawn through inflated or false educational expenses.
The final transfer would have funded a school-affiliated residence purchased through a company connected to Vanessa.
They planned to move Lily there after my presumed-death petition was accepted, then relocate to North Carolina once Vanessa’s adoption request began.
Messages showed Daniel believed the school records would support everything.
Seven years of no campus contact proves abandonment, he wrote.
Vanessa answered:
After the reception, everyone will remember me as the only mother.
They were not simply having an affair.
They were converting repetition into evidence.
Every school photograph.
Every parent meeting.
